Our experienced linguists deliver clear, culturally sensitive translations schools and parents can trust.

Sandra Ledesma, Special Education Interpreter & Translator | Certified Court Interpreter

Sandra Ledesma began working in special education interpreting and translation in 2008. Since then, she has interpreted hundreds of IEP meetings and translated IEPs, assessment reports, prior written notices, and meeting summaries.

Her time as a school district interpreter showed her how clear communication changes the outcome of every IEP meeting, for families and school teams alike. In 2017 she founded Spectrum Translations to bring that experience to districts and families across the United States.

As a former English learner, Sandra knows firsthand what it feels like to sit in a conversation about your own family and not understand it.

Why Schools and Families Choose Spectrum Translations

Credentialed Linguists, Not Just Bilingual Staff

Our translators are certified or registered professionals, and many hold degrees in the fields they translate, including law and education. That expertise matters when documents carry legal weight under IDEA, Section 504, or Title VI.

Confidential Handling of Student Records

Student and family information is handled under strict confidentiality protocols, in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA when applicable.

Rush Service for IEP Deadlines

Turnaround depends on document length and language. Rush service is available when an IEP meeting is close, and we work with your team to have translations ready on time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of special education documents do you translate?

We translate the full range of documents that schools and families need under IDEA — Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, consent forms, evaluation forms, program amendments, eligibility forms, meeting invitations, procedural guides, and psychoeducational assessment reports. We also translate specialized materials such as autism support manuals and behavioral guides for students with disabilities.

Yes. Our team is led by Sandra Ledesma, a certified court interpreter in California, and includes professionals with advanced degrees and certifications in law, education, and related fields. This means every translation reflects accurate terminology — not just bilingual fluency — which is critical when documents carry legal weight under IDEA, Section 504, or Title VI.

Do you provide interpretation for IEP and ARD/504 meetings?

Yes. We offer both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation for IEP meetings, ARD/504 hearings, resolution sessions, board meetings, and community events. Services are available on-site or remotely via Zoom, phone, or any video platform your district already uses.

How do you handle confidentiality of student information?

All student and family information is treated under strict confidentiality protocols. Our translators and staff adhere to all applicable privacy regulations and handle every document and interaction with the same level of care required in educational and legal settings.

Do you only work with schools in California?

Our team is based in Long Beach, California, but we work with school districts, special education units, and families across the United States. Remote translation and interpretation services allow us to support clients nationwide without geographic limitations.
